I woke up at 6:00 to hear my alarm on my cell phone going off, I reached over and grabbed it quickly and turned it off. I lay in bed for a few more minutes wondering if I was actually going to get up and run. I had only had five hours of sleep and quite honestly, I really didn't feel like running. I asked myself if I was going to be a wimp or be strong today, and I decided that I was going to be strong. I got up, and got ready to go. KM and AK who are my track teammates got up too, and we all went running.
We ended up running pretty much the same circuit that I ran yesterday, and this time I ran it twice, but we added a part on so it was pretty close to the same amount I ran yesterday. AK ran one circuit and quit and KM ran the first one, then went inside to get a drink and then came back out and ran farther with me.
I ended up running 5.7.....not good news. I was supposed to be limiting myself to only 4 or 5 miles, but I couldn't do it. My problem isn't getting the motivation to run once I am out there, it is getting up and actually going, but once I get outside, I am home free and can't hardly stop.
The run was pretty good. It was a little hotter today, but the overall temperature was nice. My legs were a little tired, but at least I didn't have to deal with that pizza today. I ended up having a salad last night, and let me tell you, it is much easier to run on a salad than it is running on pizza.
Tomorrow I will have to go less, but knowing me I will probably end up going the same amount or more. I can't go too far too soon or I will end up doing what I did to myself last summer, which was getting a stress fracture in my femur...not fun stuff. It sucked soooo much, it was one of the worst experiences ever, I was dying to run, but I couldn't run at all and I was limping really badly. I ended up missing out on pretty much the whole cross country season which was a shame because cross country is my favorite sport and I trained 6 days a week pretty much all last summer for it.
Hopefully things work out better this summer, and I actually get to run during the season. I have to go get ready to go watch our sprint med. run at state, so I am out.
